Opened in 2015, Tan Son Nhat is an excellent 36-hole par-72 course located 30 minutes-drive from Ho Chi Minh City center and adjacent to the very busy, main international airport. Designed by Nelson & Haworth Golf Course Architects, the course is laid-out over 156 hectares and on relatively flat land. The course is characterized by large bunkers, undulating greens, numerous water hazards and extensive earth mounding. The condition of the course is generally good, thanks in no small way to the Paspalum grass used on the fairways, tees, greens and rough. Ton Son Nhat Golf Course consists of four nines (A,B,C & D) with courses B,C and D all starting at the clubhouse. Any combination of the nines makes for an interesting round of golf as each nine is challenging in its own way. The clubhouse is enormous, in fact one of the largest in Asia, with the capacity to host large banquets and weddings of up to 5,000 people. The restaurant is well-regarded and serves Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese and Western dishes. Other facilities include a driving range, chipping and putting greens and a pro-shop. The club is run under the supervision of the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense therefore caddies are very efficient male, army recruits. Golf carts are mandatory on this course and are not allowed on the fairways.
